Unstable road surface caused by subsoil settlement prior to soil stabilization

Problem

The weighbridge concrete slabs had sunk by approximately 120 mm. Each corner settled differently, causing slab deformation.

 

Cause

Approximately every five minutes, a 40-ton vehicle drove over the weighbridge. Continuous heavy loading compressed the underlying soil, reducing its bearing capacity and leading to settlement.

Solution

Geolift applied targeted geopolymer injections beneath the affected slabs to:

  • Fill voids in the compressed subsoil
  • Restore load-bearing capacity
  • Re-level the deformed concrete slabs

All works were scheduled after regular working hours to avoid disruption.
